Rebuilding and restyling of existing dwelling severely damaged by fire.

Project: Rebuilding and restyling of existing dwelling severely damaged by fire.

Location: East Bergholt, Suffolk.

The original house was built by a timber merchant in the 1960’s for himself in a contemporary style of that era and was severely damaged by fire in recent years. The property benefits from beautiful surroundings overlooking the Stour Valley.

Extensive fire damage was caused to the property, though not quite enough to warrant complete demolition and replacement.

Our brief was to remodel the house and its appearance. The client had always been fond of the New England style and felt that this was their opportunity use this to influence the style of the revitalized house, updating the fabric with good levels of insulation, services, ventilation, electrics and equipment.

The interior layout was remodelled and modernised, producing an open plan kitchen/ diner, a hallway specifically designed to complement the new style, together with a restyled bedroom and bathroom layout.

The project was a great success, the client was exceptionally pleased with the results – a great looking house that was internally revised and restyled, all in a fantastic setting.
