Conversion of existing workshop, link block extension and alterations to a Period property

Project: Conversion of existing workshop, link block extension and alterations to a Period property.

Location: Sudbury, Suffolk

A period property altered and extended, to suit modern life in the Sudbury conservation area.

The property was tired and old fashioned. The client had recently purchased the property and wanted to adapt it to accomadate a more modern lifestyle. This included the requirements for an ensuite to the master bedroom upstairs, a downstairs wet room and an open plan kitchen/dining/living space.

To achieve this, we removed the existing staircase to enable an ensuite to the master bedroom upstairs, the new link block contained a new staircase to the first floor and joined the converted workshop to the original house, a wet room and dog room was created in place of the existing kitchen, and a new kitchen/dining/living space was created within the converted workshop.

The existing workshop turned out particularly well, with the original workshop trusses being exposed and some of the original machinery workings preserved within those roof trusses. There are french doors leading out to the rear walled garden and ample space within the room for family and friends to congregate.

The brief was fully achieved, the client was very happy with the result.
