New Cartlodge, store & studio, with further storage to the first floor.
The project brief was to create good sized cartlodge for 2 cars, a garden store, a log store, a home craft studio, and first floor storage.
The site contained a dilapidated set of outbuildings, these were in front of some unsightly agricultural buildings in the neighbouring farm.
The position of the new cartlodge was chosen to hide these unsightly buildings when viewed from within the client’s site as much as possible. We also made sure the position of the new cartlodge allowed for easy and fluid movement of the vehicles in and around the cartlodge.
As well as providing the client with the space they required, it was essential to satisfy the Heritage Team, within the local Planning department, which is not always easy.
Our work involved several designs, working through these to achieve the client’s requirements, but also ensuring the new cartlodge sat comfortably adjacent to the Listed main house.
Once approved the technical design was produced, and the project progressed to construction. The contractor executed the project well and working with the client they ensured a high standard of finishing was achieved.
The project was a great success, the clients brief was accomplished, it sits well on the site and compliments the Listed building.
