Project: Residential development of multiple houses.

Location: Newton, Sudbury, Suffolk.

Residential development of 20 houses.

The project brief was to replace the existing farmhouse with a development of new houses.

We worked on the project with our Planning Consultant and other team members that we assembled. The project involved multiple planning applications and one appeal.

The initial Planning application for 10 dwellings was refused, but as part of this initial application the principle of some development was agreed with the Planning department.

As subsequent application for 6 houses was submitted and was approved. The first refusal was submitted for appeal, and the inspector agreed with us and the appeal was approved. We then combined the 2 approvals to create a development of 11 houses, known as phase 1.

Then phase 2 was designed as a development of 9 houses, which although involved protracted negotiations with the Planning department was finally approved.

Both schemes were built out consisting of a good mix of detached houses, bungalows and semi-detached houses, incorporating modern living spaces, using traditional styles and good quality materials, the houses have all sold well.

The resulting development is pleasant to look at, functional, and contributes well to the housing stock of this village and the great local community.
